Are you looking to get you amateur radio license or upgrade your existing license, or do you know someone that wants to get their tech license? Well, here is your chance.

Five County Volunteer Examiner Team (FCVET) is a great place to get your first license or upgrade your current license!

We are partnering with HamStudy.org and Exam Tools to bring you a seamless in-person digital test session.

Important Information About Testing at FCVET

Priority will be given to those who have pre-registered. Due to space limitations Banks Road applicants require preregistration. Registration is always preferred.
There is NO CHARGE to take exams from a Laurel VEC.

The sessions are FREE but the FCC may assess an application fee.

  • The fee ONLY applies to new, renewal, and vanity call sign applications.
  • There are NO FEES for modifications such as upgrades, requests for a new sequential call sign, or for administrative updates such as a change of name, mailing address, e-mail address, or license cancellation.
  • The fee is paid directly to the FCC after the session (via e-mailed instructions).
  • Please use a valid e-mail address. The FCC will dismiss any application without a valid e-mail. The e-mail address is not public.

YOU MUST HAVE AN FCC Registration Number (FRN) and a valid e-mail address to take these amateur radio exams. The FCC will not process any applications without an FRN and e-mail!
Candidates seeking to upgrade their license already have an FRN.
Candidates seeking a new license must obtain an FRN before the session.

Be sure to bring:

  • Any original CSCE if you are using them for exam credit.
  • A government-issued photo ID (e.g. Driver’s License, State ID, Military ID, Passport, etc.)
    For youth: A non-government issued photo ID (e.g., Student ID, etc.) or a non-photo ID (e.g., School ID, Library Card, Report Card, etc.) is acceptable.
