AUXCOMM

I see a lot of hams showing an interest in getting involved in emergency communications or Amateur Radio Emergency Service or (ARES)  In North Carolina hams come under the umbrella of Auxcomm. In order to become a part of Auxcomm you are required to take the following fema courses. I suggest the following steps:

      1. Get a FEMA Student Identification (SID) number
      2. Take the IS-100 Course
      3. Take the IS-200 Course
      4. Take the IS-700 Course
      5. Take the IS-800 Course

I found by downloading The Classroom Materials on the right hand side of each of the courses and saving them to your computer and using the PDF find feature on your software to find key words in the question you can answer the question correctly in most of the material presented.  The question is worded exactly as the classroom materials are presented.  After you complete the questions you will need to download the certificate and present the certificate to The North Carolina AUXCOMM Society . You may actually take The Final Exam before you take the course.  The completion of the examination is an individual effort. As you complete the courses and get your certificate you are requested to register with AUXCOMM.  After you register on the Auxcomm website you will be giving the opportunity to give your contact information and pick what counties you would like to serve.

All are invited to join the Wake County AUXCOMM Net every Thursday night at 9:15PM on the 146.88 repeater. We offer brief training each net.– Virginia Enzor, Wake County Deputy AUXCOMM Coordinator

Please let me Mark Gibson (N4MQU)  hear from you when you complete these courses. I had been involved with ARES in the past and now I am a member of Auxcomm,  I would like to see more amateur radio operators join up and I hope the instructions here will help more amateurs register.  Feel free to contact me with additional resources for this page.  n4mqu@me.com.
